About GiliWorld & GILI Inc.

GiliWorld (means world of small islands) is a non-profit foundation with formerly mission and vision to save, reinforce, and conserve Lombok Island included its potentials resources through natural and art-traditional values. GiliWorld was founded by some volunteers who care about those purposes consist of artists, photographers, travelers-backpackers, naturalist, etc. We were discussed and thought “we must do something because we are citizens of this beautiful earth!” Now GiliWorld is growing with continuous programs that started & centralized at Lombok Island to make a better world. But we aren’t close the opportunity to enlarge geographical radius around the world.

Our first programs that have been existing, is an empowerment program for local/traditional artist and craftsman. Lombok is a rich island with abundant natural resources. Rinjani Mountain and its offspring is a center of Lombok fertility. Tenth years ago Lombok was famous as Bumi Gora (Gogo Rancah)—it means “Land of Fertility”. Rice, tobacco, cow ranch, and seaweed are main commodity of Lombok. Lombok also has original amazing gift from The God as a wonderful island with high potential to become a famous destination in the world. But actually Lombok is being famous as a largest non-professional labors supplier to some countries in Asia. Lombok’s economical activities from tourism are can’t really touch local citizen. Because of it reasons we accommodate them beside other Society Development program such as free library for children, coaching clinics for local artist and craftsman, up to alternative energy project.

We also doings several programs to conserve the nature with SUBFORE as a pilot project. In this website we also want to build one stop information center for all travelers who want to visit Lombok, Sumbawa, and other heavens in Nusantara beside media for articles related.

As a non-profit foundation now GiliWorld is powered by GILI™ (Gift of Impressive Lombok Indonesia) and some donors. But we still try to build a better system to accommodate donors and number of volunteers that continuously rising. We need your support because we are customers of beautiful earth!
